Holy Grounds

The Camp and Retreat Ministry of the Susquehanna Conference of The United Methodist Church has a rich history of blessing the lives of children, youth, and adults with a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. “Building Bridges to People on Holy Grounds” has been a successful campaign for the camping program as it has helped to improve, expand, and renovate facilities at the four camping sites the Conference owns.

The goal was to raise $5.5 million. The Campaign raised a little over $4.7 million which is 87% of the overall goal. These funds have helped with the following:

Camp Penn

  • New restrooms at the dining hall
  • Improved sports court and craft building
  • Updated the swimming pool

Greene Hills

  • New Wells
  • Sewage plant
  • Renovation of the athletic field 

Mount Asbury

  • Built a beautiful motel-style facility that accommodates 56 people

Wesley Forest

  • Renovations to White Pine and Hemlock Lodges
  • Improvements to the Wesley Forest Lake

The last project that has not been started is the meeting and program space at Wesley Forest. It is hoped that we can begin this in 2012. We will hopefully be using volunteers and NOMADS to complete this project.

The Camp & Retreat Commission gives thanks to all the churches and individuals who have given to the “Building Bridges to People on Holy Grounds” campaign. Your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness are changing lives for Jesus Christ.

It is the hope of the Camp & Retreat Commission that you will continue to:

PRAY for the ministry at Camp Penn, Greene Hills, Mount Asbury, and Wesley Forest.
SHARE with people what God is doing through Camp & Retreat Ministry.
SEND children & youth to camps and on retreats to experience the love and grace of God.
HELP volunteer as a dean, counselor, or for a work day at one of the camping sites.
GIVE generously to support your camps of the Susquehanna Conference.
