2013 Camps - Greene Hills

GREENE HILLS 20, MAKING MEMORIES AT GREENE HILLS-- SCRAPBOOKING RETREAT, LADIES 18+
FEBRUARY 15-18, NANCY BARNETT AND SUSAN ROYER
Do you love to scrapbook but can never find the time to scrap at home?  Both beginner and long time scrapbookers will enjoy the opportunity to scrap into the wee hours of the morning.  Pick up new ideas while fellowshipping with gals who share your passion for scrapbooking.  Different techniques will be demonstrated throughout the weekend and all types of scrapbooking supplies will be available for purchase on site.  Both digital and traditional scrapbookers are welcome.  This camp is open to adult women only.  For both the 2-night and 3-night events, participants may arrive anytime after 10 a.m. on Friday.  The 2-night event ends at 4 p.m. on Sunday; the 3-night event ends at 2 p.m. on Monday.

GREENE HILLS 21, GOD’S DAUGHTERS, LADIES 20+
APRIL 5-7, PAM WESTERHOLD AND JOANNA RENNER Calling all women of all ages and all walks of life from young adult to middle age to the more mature!  Won’t you consider joining us for a weekend retreat where you can truly get away, leave your day-to-day responsibilities at home, and enjoy a time of fellowship and reflection as we learn more about each other and grow closer to the Lord?  A spring retreat will be good for your soul as we get outside in God’s beautiful creation and connect with old friends and make some new ones.  You will enjoy bed-and-breakfast-like accommodations at the Manor where you can relax and eat plenty of good food.  We’ll participate together in games, conversation, worship, quiet time, and a whole lot of fun with fellow believers as we relate to one another as women.  Hope to see you there!  This event will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening and conclude at 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

GREENE HILLS 22, MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT RETREAT

Come join us for a weekend away from the distractions of the world to learn ways to strengthen your marriage. Topics covered: Why get Married, Communication, Compatibility and Intimacy, Trust, Commitment, and Faith in Marriage. This event will be led by Pastor Donald Smith who serves the Morgan Run Charge.

SPIRITUAL SOJOURN ON THE LITTLE JUNIATA RIVER, AGES 14- ADULT

Participants must be 14 years of age and a practiced beginner in kayaking or canoeing.  Participants will be expected to transport their own boats.  Leaders will help with transportation and organizing carpooling. GREENE HILLS 1, DAD & ME, AGES 4-8

This is also a terrific chance for children to experience some of the activities that go on at camp before they attend either a mini-camp or a full week of camp. The adventure begins on Saturday at 10 a.m. and ends on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.  Looking forward to seeing Dads and their kids!

GREENE HILLS 2, SOCCER ACADEMY I, GRADES 2-5

This beginning level course teaches the fundamentals of soccer while having a great time doing it.  Many other fun activities are provided in an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork.  Most importantly, we learn not only about Jesus, but how to live with him daily.  

GREENE HILLS 3, SOCCER ACADEMY II, GRADES 6-10

This program is designed to improve a player’s soccer skill whether they are just a beginner or have had many years of experience.  The same is true for each person’s walk with God.  Our goal is to improve each person’s soccer game and relationship with God – and have fun while we do it.

GREENE HILLS 4, THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!-- MUSIC THEATER CAMP, GRADES 7-12
JUNE 23-29, MICHELLE WHITLOCK AND ROBERT KILMER
Join us at Music Theater Camp as we present a shortened Young Performer’s Edition of The Wizard of Oz, complete with all the familiar songs from the movie and original musical.  We’ll travel the yellow brick road in our worship and Bible study times as we explore the themes of the musical including the truth that there is no place like home… with God.  Our daily activities include theater and music coaching, practices for the show, regular camp activities, set design, costume creation, and lots of fun theater games. The week begins with registration at 2 p.m. on Sunday June 23rd and concludes with a performance for our families on Saturday morning June 29th at 9 a.m.

GREENE HILLS 5, BE A FAMOUS KID! -- MUSIC CAMP, GRADES 3-6
JULY 7-13, BARRY AND JONI ROBISON, STEVE NOSS
Join us at elementary music camp this year, where we will learn and perform the children’s musical “Famous Kids of the Bible.”  Shortly after you register at camp on Sunday, July 7 (2:30-4:00 p.m.), you will meet a hilarious character, Zack, who will introduce you to Sam, Jerry, Dave, Jon, Rhoda, and the No Names – all of whom were famous kids in Biblical times.  In addition to learning the musical, we will climb the rock wall, hike in the creek, compete in Olympics, stage our annual Talent Show, swim, do crafts, and much, much more.  We will perform the musical three times -- Friday afternoon at an area nursing home, Friday night for folks at the RV Park and the camp staff, and at the close of camp on Saturday morning , July 13, at 9 a.m. in the camp barn for your parents and families when they come to pick you up.  If you enjoy singing and acting, this camp is perfect for you!!  We invite you to join us…..and bring a friend or two!!!

GREENE HILLS 6, GRANDPARENTS & ME, AGES 6-9
JULY 7-9, DAVID AND JEAN NORRIS
Grandparents and Me Camp starts Sunday, at 3 PM at the dormitory style manor house at Greene Hills and concludes at 3 PM on Tuesday. Grand parenting is an example of God’s radical love in today’s culture.  This intergenerational experience includes Bible study, fossil finding, swimming, rock wall climbing, and S’More. This affords a unique grandchild-grandparent, one-on-one time in the context of the Christian community and in this beautiful setting of Greene Hills.

GREENE HILLS 8, FAITH QUEST, GRADES 3-5

If you are looking for a great camp experience but don’t want to stay a full week, check out our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade mini-camp.  From Sunday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon, our camp is packed with swimming, campfires, use of the climbing wall, singing, crafts, games, and time with new friends to learn about God. We usually have a talent show on Sunday night, a movie night with popcorn and snow cones on Monday, a really cool candlelight communion service on Tuesday and on Wednesday, each camper receives a special recognition during our closing program. We have so much fun! We look forward to meeting you!  Registration begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday, and camp concludes at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

GREENE HILLS 9, GOD’S KIDS- GO FOR THE GOLD! --SPECIAL NEEDS CAMP, AGES 18-70
JULY 21-25, JOHN GODISSART AND MARTHA SYKES
Special needs adults are welcomed to come and “go for the gold” as we keep our eyes on Jesus and run the race in the beautiful setting of Greene Hills.  Many campers call this their favorite week of the entire year.  Campers participate in a wide variety of activities including swimming, hiking, crafts, fishing, Bible study, worship, games, water Olympics, dancing, cruising on Raystown Lake, and much more.  Campers should be ambulatory and have a certain level of independence.  For more information call John Godissart, Camp Dean, at 717-485-4815.

GREENE HILLS 10, GOD OF WONDERS, GRADES 4-7
AUGUST 4-9, JAY JONES AND JASON GUILLAUME
Join us for this week-long adventure where we will experience the wonder of God! Campers and staff members will have opportunities to encounter God through hiking, tubing, games, various interest groups and worship and study times in the midst of God's beautiful creation. Come scale the climbing wall, make friends in cabin and family unit groups, and make great memories around the campfire, or watching the sunset at Cathedral Hill.

GREENE HILLS 23, MAKING MEMORIES AT GREENE HILLS-- SCRAPBOOKING RETREAT, LADIES 18+
